MISSION

The mission of LISEIA is to promote a healthy, ethical and vibrant solar industry on Long Island, which includes influencing and sponsoring wise policy for local industries and organizations, and local, state and Federal governments.

NEAR TERM GOALS (6 months) - Top near term issues for the group to address at large

Ranked based on promote, support, and enlarge the solar industry on large

1. Continue prudent establishment of LISEIA, including bylaws and organization

2. Increase solar professional participation level (Ie, interesting meeting agendas, guest speakers, special events, etc.)

3. Establish robust and useful LISEIA website, which is informative and useful to members

4. Participate and support NYSEIA initiatives

5. Ensure proper implementation of LIPA Net Metering & Rebate Allocation

MEDIUM TERM OBJECTIVES

1. Influence municipal codes, establish suggested practices document. Concurrently rate local government agencies with regard to their ease and support of solar permitting and installations

2. Collate information quantifying the LI solar industry

  (Ie, Study and determine LI’s fiscal influence on local, regional economy)

3. Establish a LISEIA Solar Roadmap

  (Ie, use NYSEIA roadmap as a suggested template)

4. Establish a group code of ethics (standards of professionalism)

  a. Best business practices

  b. Sales integrity

  c. Minimum installation standards

5. Establish continuing education methods / means / programs for local contractors

6. Establish relationships with other groups/organizations with similar objectives and compatible missions (RELI, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, LI Neighborhood Network, etc)

GENERAL OBJECTIVES (Mid & Long Term)

• Support the transition to a sustainable market driven solar industry on LI

• Influence Policy

  o LI, State, National

  o Ie bring Steve Israel to one of our meetings (political figures)

  o Ie Leaderships in important private individuals

• Longevity solar industry in Long Island

• Unify the industry; speak with one voice

• Establish clear lines of communication with external entities, institutions, etc.

• Public Education // Rally public support through outreach and education

Action Item for All: The items listed abover are still “work in progress”. Each member of the LISEIA is encouraged to review and refine the list and submit suggestions and edits to the leadership.
